Free climbing under the watchful eye of instructors and using the appropriate climbing gear, is an absolutely safe sport which everyone can try. Choosing the right direction is most important, so that the difficulty of the climb is suited to one’s physical abilities, and enjoyment is guaranteed.

The best location for free climbing in Šibenik-Knin County is situated in the Čikola Canyon. The cliffs located near the bridge over the river Čikola (on the road from Pakovo selo to Ključ) and roughly 1500 m upstream are most attractive for rock climbers. At this location there are 50 routes equipped for climbing, with a maximum height of 40 meters.

Due to the orientation of the rock towards the south and the fact that it is sheltered from bora (a north-eastern wind), it is ideal for climbing during the colder part of the year.
